With construction works underway for the new technical college, Built was honoured to welcome South Australian Premier Peter Malinauskas, Blair Boyer MP, Rhiannon Pearce MP, and Olivia Savvas MP for a site visit at The Heights Technical College.

Co-located and run in conjunction with The Heights School, students at the technical college will be able to get a head start to a career in one of four in-demand industry specialisations: Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering, Aero Skills, Building and Construction, and Early Childhood and Education.

“Knowing building and construction is experiencing a skilled labour shortage, we’re proud to be delivering a state-of-the-art specialist facility that will give students a head start and support the next generation of our industry,” said Henry Meaney, General Manager, Built.

Set to open in time for the 2026 school year, the technical college will support students in years 10 to 12 to complete their SACE while undertaking vocational education and training in specialist facilities.

The 3,500sqm two-storey building offers teaching environments aligned with four specialist industry areas creating authentic workplace experiences for students that are aligned with industry needs.

“These technical colleges represent a new style of learning that connects our young people directly with employers and provides them with an exciting, hands-on pathway to their future,” said Blair Boyer MP, Minister for Education, Training and Skills.

“Students will walk out of the technical colleges with their SACE certificate and a guaranteed career in industries that are in demand here in South Australia,” added Minister Boyer.

At the site, preliminary work for the car park is complete, the laying of the ground floor concrete slab is underway and construction of the full structure will begin shortly.
