Stage 1A The Day Procedure Unit which comprised:
- Partial demolition of Stamford (partial) and Ferndale Wards
- New roof and roof structure
- Two new procedure rooms
- Three new day theatre fitouts, together with required ancillary services & recovery beds
- New admissions area and front of house rooms, including amenities, staff tearoom and change rooms
Stage 1B saw Built complete:
- A new emergency department
- A new cardiac catheterisation laboratory
- Proposed Linac bunker early works structural component
- New car parking above ED
- Surrounding in-ground infrastructure and civil works
Additional works included;
- Short Stay Unit extension to completed Emergency Department
- Demolition and fit out of the existing cardiac cath lab upon completion of new cath lab in Stage 1B
The works were undertaken within the fully operational hospital, where it was imperative that all areas and methodology options were considered to ensure minimum disruptions to the hospital, as well as minimising bed reductions.
