Unlocking pipeline: collaboration is key to delivering Defence projects
In the context of an evolving geopolitical and delivery environment, ongoing collaboration between industry and Government was a key theme explored at this year’s Collab X.
Now in its third year, Collab X has grown into a powerhouse of in-person collaboration between Consult Australia’s members, other industry representatives, and Australia’s Defence Security and Estate Group.
With over 300 specialists from across the spectrum of defence, construction, and consultancy firms, panellists discussed opportunities for industry to maximise the value of engagement with the Department, as well as how broader initiatives across governments could support infrastructure delivery across the Defence estate.
Built’s Director of Strategic Growth, Marketing and Corporate Affairs, Kaitlyn Davidson joined Matthew Quinn, Executive Director of the Capital Facilities & Infrastructure Branch at the Department of Defence, and Doug McAneny, Group President of HDR to discuss the challenges and opportunities in delivering the Defence pipeline.
“As we look to the future, we understand the importance of a collective approach that supports the broad objectives from the Defence Strategic Review and accelerates Australia’s key priorities,” said Kaitlyn.
Speaking about the current pressures on resourcing and industry capability, Kaitlyn highlighted the opportunity to optimise delivery by measuring what matters and being conscious of the volume of projects released to market.
“From sharing insights on early contractor engagement to delivery optimisation, its recognised that contractors play a critical role in supporting government to unlock challenges and deliver the critical Defence pipeline,” she added.
Thank you to Consult Australia for hosting this year’s Collab X Event and inviting Built to participate.
We look forward to continuing to accelerate national Defence priorities and are committed to working towards a stronger and more collaborative future.
