Old Treasury Buildings
Value: $90m
Client: FJM
Architect: Kerry Hill Architects, Palassis Architects
Completion date: November 2015
Built is proud to have played a significant role in transforming these buildings into a vibrant hospitality and retail destination, home to the luxury 48-suite hotel COMO: The Treasury.
The detailed scope of works included a complete services strip out and upgrade along with extensive restoration of feature areas such as the atrium Postal Hall with lathe and plaster ceilings, external balconies, and a reinstated slate and copper roof.
Other heritage aspects that were retained in the building’s conversion include the external façade, masonry, metalwork and joinery, as well as timber sash-and-pulley windows.
The project was awarded the Master Builders Association’s 2016 Bankwest Best Project. It also won MBA awards for Best State Government Building, Best Refurbishment or Renovation: Over $10m, Best Historic Restoration or Renovation and the Jim Saunders Memorial Judges Innovation Award.
